AFS NOLITC sign MOU for English Intensive Program

Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with American Field Service (AFS) Intercultural Programs Philippines, Inc. for the pioneer implementation of the English Intensive Program for AFS foreign partners, students, and volunteers in the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC).
AFS Intercultural Programs Philippines, Inc. was represented by its vice president, Hector Dimacali; its mission is to develop skills and provide intercultural learning education to create a more just and peaceful world through understanding, and it has expressed interest in having NOLITC as a partner school for some foreign exchange students which may come to the Philippines under the international intercultural programs being implemented by the AFS.
It is stated in the MOU that NOLITC shall conduct the English Intensive Program for AFS foreign students and volunteers that will focus on learning English as a second language while immersing with Negrosanon/Filipino culture for four weeks.
It is further stated that as an AFS partner school, NOLITC shall be entitled to have its qualified students to apply in AFS Intercultural Exchange Programs, in order for such students to participate in the study abroad opportunities subject to the terms and conditions of the various AFS programs.
According to NOLITC Administrator, Dr. Cristina Orbecido, among the benefits of the partner school is the intercultural experience and exposure to tourism destinations in the province.
