HERE Global inks MOA with Guv for NOLITC partnership

A Memorandum of Agreement was signed yesterday between Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. and HERE Global B.V. of the Netherlands, a global mapping company and maker of HERE Maps.

Representing the HERE Global are Bilal Samdani Sethi, head acquisition and community in South East Asia, Alam Primanda, senior content acquisition and community lead, Rodel Reyes, content acquisition analyst and community analyst Roniel Domael.

Marañon said the collaboration with HERE Global will benefit Negros Occidental mainly in the area of tourism and planning.
Sethi said we will expose Negros Occidental to the world through the gather including landmarks and other important places. Our partnership will go beyond the contract signing, we want it to be sustainable thus we will go beyond community mapping.

The students will be equipped in geographic technology and they can use it later on their technological career, they can even make maps of their locality based on their knowledge to help planning activities and even on transit services like traffic monitoring in their areas, Sethi added.

Primanda said that the program was the first in the whole country and this will allow generation of information for would be tourists from other parts of the world.

He further added that HERE plans to embed the HERE Community Map Creator tool in NOLITC’s curriculum. With this endeavor, NOLITC will become the hub of HERE Global for all the training and technical workshops that will also cater to other schools and universities.

NOLITC School Administrator, Ma. Cristina Orbecido said the partnership with HERE will allow NOLITC to level up its programs and services. The inclusion of the Map Creator Tool in the curriculum of NOLITC will not only benefit the students, but will also create an impact to the community.

The partnership is the first endeavor of NOLITC with a global mapping partner.
