Ruel Guico, lovingly called “ Barbie” by his family and friends, worked as an entertainer in one of the elite bars in Japan for 10 years. His experience is truly a classic example of sweat, tears, toil and blood.
After all the hardships abroad, he decided to come back in the Philippines to take care of his aging mom. He was prompted to look for a job to support his mom but was reluctant because he is already in his forties and it’s very hard to find a job in Bacolod City.
Then he learned of NOLITC, offering free call center training. He hurriedly went over to Paglaum Sports Complex and had an assessment. He passed the assessment and was given the scholarship for Contact Center Services Training for 356 hours.
He was excited yet at the same time nervous because he didn’t know anything about computers. Thankful to his instructors’ encouragement, he became competent in handling computers. He invested time, effort and his heart in the training. After two months and a half, his communication and computer skills improved. Then, he applied at Panasiatic Solutions and was hired. He knew it was just the first step to his call center career.
He said he will forever be grateful to his NOLITC family for being there with him all the way.
